Ramona's Fish Cakes

A tasty snack or light meal..
I used Steenbras, but any firm white meat fish will do.


  • 1kg fish
  • 2 chopped onions,
  • 5 chopped green chillies, 2tsp cumin/coriander powder
  • 2tsp kashmiri chilli powder
  • 1 and half tsp salt
  • 2- 3 slices white bread (You can also use half box Panko breadcrumbs)
  • 1 tsp crushed garlic
  • half bunch coriander chopped finely
  • 3-4 eggs..


  • Steam fish until flesh is white and firm.
  • Once cooled, debone and flake.
  • Add chopped onions,  chopped green chillies, cumin/coriander powder, kashmiri chilli powder, 1 and half tsp salt, 2- 3 slices white bread or half a box of Panko breadcrumbs), 1tsp crushed garlic, half bunch coriander, chopped finely and 3-4 eggs.
  • Mix all of the ingredients and mould into patties.. Fry in a non-stick pan in a few tablespoons of oil on medium heat.

I serve with spicy chips and a chickpea salad.
